MATERUNI COOKING CLASS
Please visit www.materuni.com to see our day trips and short tours program.

This is the perfect opportunity to get hands on and learn all about the cooking processes of some of the local Tanzanian food.

The cooking class is a great experience for everyone. It is a hands on cooking class and you will be engaged in the whole process.

You will have the opportunity to go to the farm to source your fresh ingredients, prepare and cook dishes with a step by step recipe and finally you will learn how to serve these traditional dishes. The Tanzania meal is mostly based on cassava, cornmeal (maize), millet beans, potatoes, rice, banana, elephant ear plant and vegetables.

The most common dish in Tanzania is ugali which is made with cassava flour, maize flour, and millet or sorghum flour. Usually Ugali is served with meat stew, fish stew, vegetables or some beans.

In our cooking class you will learn how to cook traditional Chaga local food including banana foods (macharari), kiburu, kitawa, pilau, ngande and kitalolo.

This cooking class is relaxed - hakuna matata! You will have a really authentic experience of traditional Chagga cooking. Not only will you get to enjoy and taste the local food but you will also have the opportunity to learn more about the lifestyles of many villagers in Materuni.

Our guide will be there throughout the cooking class to assist and answer any questions you may have. All our customers will be provided with the recipes of all the cultural food and dishes - so maybe you could try to recreate some of these dishes at home for your friends!

Come and join us for an unforgettable and fun cooking experience! What better way to experience Materuni village than through cooking and learning about the local way of life?

Price per person is 15 USD
