General Information for Volunteers at Tunajali Tanzania
We would like to give you short information about the possibilities for volunteering with our NGO Tunajali. We are very happy that you are interested in working with us and you are most welcome in Moshi, Kilimanjaro.
Volunteering with us is possible from 1 week up to 6 month.
We can arrange to pick you up from Kilimanjaro Airport: Price per transfer: 40 USD

There are different options where you can stay during your time as a volunteer. It depends on what you're going to do and what kind of accommodation you prefer.
Accomodations:
Option 1: Awele House in Moshi town
We are happy to offer Awele House as accommodation, which is close to our Tunajali office in Moshi town. You will be hosted by an African Mama who will also cook for you.
For daily stays the rate is USD 25 per night per person for bed, breakfast and dinner (African food).
For longer stays the monthly rate is USD 300 per person for bed, breakfast and dinner (African food).
Option 2: Materuni Volunteer Home
For volunteers who will support Tunajali and stay in Materuni, where we are doing a lot of our charity work, we are offering a Materuni Volunteer Home as accommodation. Materuni is surrounded by beautiful nature.
This accommodation offers the same standard as in Moshi.
For daily stays the rate is USD 25 per night per person for bed, breakfast and dinner (African food).
For longer stays the monthly rate is USD 300 per person for bed, breakfast and dinner (African food).
Our volunteer homes:
Option 3: Hotel, Hostel or AirBB
If you prefer this kind of accommodation we will find the perfect place for you together.
All the meals we are serving in our accommodations are local. If you have any special food requirements please let us know.
Administration Fee and cost overview:
Tunajali is a 100% non-profit organization and we guarantee that all received money will be used for our charity projects. However we have to cover the costs for our administrative activities (volunteer communication and support, office, internet, etc.). Therefore we friendly ask you to compensate with an administration fee of USD 50 per month of your volunteering (or the proportionate amount for a shorter stay, minimum USD 25).

Possibilities to volunteer:
We are very happy that we can offer a wide range of support activities to our volunteers, e.g. Materuni and Msasani Primary School as a teacher or assistant, Offfice support of Tunajali Tanzania, Dancing / Chagga Dance group, Football coaching, Clinic support and Home-based Care, Business Training and many more. Please look at the subsequent web pages for more information.
If you want to volunteer in one of our Primary schools it would be helpful if you have a basic knowledge in Kiswahili.
For example if you are interested to teach some fundamentals in Information Technology (IT) it would be helpful if you might bring your own laptop and if possible projector.
Let us know what kind of volunteering work you prefer so we can give you further information about the projects. One of our last volunteers renovated a classroom at Wondo Primary School together with a group of local volunteers. Work like this is also possible and you’re more than welcome to bring your own ideas for projects.
