The Materuni Village Clinic was officially opened in 2017. The building was formerly used as a kindergarten school. Due to the need for medical services, the kindergarden school was moved to Materuni Primary School and the clinic was founded in its place. There is one doctor on service, supported by two nurses.
It is open Monday to Friday and closed on the weekends (exception: emergencies).

The following services are offered: OPD (outpatient department), reproductive services (e.g. emergency baby delivery), healthcare services (e.g. counseling about family planning, alcoholism), disease management (high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, ulcers, pneumonia)

Current issues include:

  •  A shortage of staff (more staff would enable the clinic to extend its opening hours)

  • The requirement for a separate area offering mother & newborn babies a place to stay overnight, allowing for constant observation by doctors (there is space available at the back of the building)

  • The building itself requires a proper reception and renovation is needed due to water issues.

  • A shortage of equipment (e.g. BP-machine, diabetic machines for blood glucose monitoring and scales

The clinic staff are doing their upmost to help the local people day by day, but with your support they could assist patients more efficiently.
